How Are Garbage Bags Made?

Ever wanted to know how your garbage bags are made? It was three inventive Canadians who created the first trash bags back in 1950. They were originally called “green garbage bags” because of their color. Trash bags quickly became popular in homes and for commercial use, thanks to their capacity to hold trash without any messy spills or leaks while also minimizing odors. Some more expensive black garbage bags have two linings to make them completely airtight and odor-proof: an outer waterproof layer, and an inner lining consisting of an absorbent pulp.

Trash bags are commonly manufactured using polyethylene plastic, which was invented in 1942. Polyethylene comes in the form of small beads, which are heated to 200 degrees Celsius. Pressure is applied to the beads to make them flexible, and color is added to make the plastic attractive. The plastic is then converted into a large roll of bags. Finally, the bags are cooled and cut into various shapes. The result is plastic garbage bags which are flexible, soft, and waterproof.
